Course introduction

The bachelor’s thesis represents the completion of the bachelor’s programme in Physics. The project is thus intended to document that the student has acquired the professional knowledge and the theoretical and experimental qualifications that enable the student to identify, formulate, solve, and discuss issues related to a specific physical subject.

Expected learning outcome

A student with a Bachelor degree in Physics can:
  • Define a physical problem and in collaboration with others write a project outline, which aims at solving the problem.
  • Explain the applied theories and models.
  • Evaluate own results in the context of existing knowledge.

Content

The subject of the project is determined in collaboration with a supervisor, and the project description is approved as part of the bachelor’s project contract by the supervisor, the department, and the study board.

The thesis examination is individual and starts with a presentation on the thesis subject. The final format (degree of online vs. Physical defence) is determined by the supervisor in consultation with students and co-examiner, but co-examiner will as a general rule take part online. After the presentation the student may be examined in both the report and the presentation. The student's presentation is part of the total assessment.

The bachelor's project may be carried out in groups of no more than 4 students, but the examination is individual. Presentation and report may be carried out in Danish or in English.
