Academic preconditions
Course introduction
The aim of the course is to enable the student to analyse it-security, privacy, and it-ethical problems related to big data, artificial intelligence, and data-driven decision processes. This is important to pro-actively respond to it-security, privacy-, and it-ethical problems in system design.
The course provides a foundation for applying the knowledge, competences, and skills, which are acquired in the education, particularly addressing issues related to it-security, privacy, and it-ethics.
In relation to the competence profile of the degree it is the explicit focus of the course to:
- give the competence to handle work- and development situations such that issues concerning it-security, it-ethics, and privacy is pro-actively integrated in the design phase.
- give skills to analyse and reflect upon it-ethical problems, as well as apply methods, such as e.g., Privacy by Design.
- give knowledge and understanding of fundamental methods to identify and handle security related problems.
- give knowledge about ethical problems, such as e.g., bias in algorithms, transparency, fairness, and profiling.
- give knowledge about theories about privacy and privacy enhancing design methods, such as e.g., Privacy by Design.
Expected learning outcome
The learning objective of the course is that the student demonstrates the ability to:
- analyse problems related to it-security, privacy, and it-ethics.
- have knowledge of Privacy by Design.
- have knowledge of it-security models.
