Aim and purpose

The purpose of the Study Start Test is to determine if the student has actually started his/her studies at SDU.

The Study Start Test is designed with the purpose of assisting the student in the transition into a university through introduction to relevant study skills.

Content

•Introduction to IT-systems: Single Sign On, Blacboard, MitSkema and SelfService.
•Assistance in finding information relevant to the study program: Time Schedules, courses, literature, program structure and exams.
•Introduction to administrative rules and regulations.
•Introduction to general study skills.
•SDUs expectations to new students regarding effort and contribution.

Learning goals

The goal is that the student shows that he/she has started on the program. This is done by active participation in the course aiming at developing relevant study competences. As part of this course the student must develop knowledge about relevant systems and skills in finding important and relevant information about the study program.

The test is organized as participation in an on-line course in Blackboard. The course consists of number of modules. The modules must be completed during the first weeks of the semester. The test is passes when all modules have been completed. 

Deadline for completion is announced at the programs exam-page at MitSDU.

The student can access the course as soon as login to Blackboard has been received.

The total workload is approximately 2½-3 hours.

NOTE - This course is identical with the former course 83117301 Study Start Test, B.Sc. in Economics and Business Administration.

The student has 2 attempts to pass the Study Start Test. The student is automatically enrolled for the study start test. If the student does not participate in the test, the test is failed, and an examination attempt has been used. If the test is not passed the student has the opportunity to participate in a reexamination. If the student does not participate in the test, the reexam has been failed, and an examination attempt has been used. If the student has not passed the study start test after 2 attempts, the university will terminate the enrolment at the university. 

The student is automatically registered for the first examination attempt when the student is registered for a course or course element with which one or more examinations are associated. Withdrawal of registration is not possible, and students who fail to participate in an examination have used one examination attempt, unless the University has made an exemption due to special circumstances.
