Teaching Method
6 hours are allocated to guidance, including the supervisor's preparation for meetings as well as email and other correspondence.
The internship period gives the student an opportunity to learn how learned theory and method can be used to solve suitable problems. The tasks/problems to be solved, which must be agreed with a supervisor and the company, may be in the form of one, large problem or several smaller problems. The student cannot receive a salary for carrying out these tasks. It is allowed to receive funding to cover documented expenses during the project- and trainee period. The student may have a job in the organization during the project- and trainee period.
The time set aside for the course corresponds to approximately 3,5 days a week for 13 weeks in the company as well as time for the preparation and completion of the report. The distribution of this time must be described in the supervisor agreement that must include:
- A description of the problem to be solved and/or the tasks to be performed,
- A description of the agreed schedule for time in the company, and
- Information about who is the contact person and contact information for this person.
Link to the supervisor agreement is available under "Project- and Trainee Period" at study programme page on www.sdu.dk. When the supervisor agreement is completed, it will automatically go on to the relevant people for approval and registration.
The student may not receive payment for the project-oriented study, as a) the activity is an ECTS-bearing activity, and b) the student may receive SU during the study. Reimbursement for some expenses or a monthly payment for confirmed expenses can, however, be granted during the study. If repayment/reimbursement is received, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure, whether it is taxable or not.
Companies and organizations can give students in unprofitable project-oriented courses and on unpaid study stays an acknowledgment of up to DKK 3,000 a month.
Students who participate in project-oriented courses abroad may receive a salary if there is a legal requirement for minimum wages in the country in question.
